I will probably devote an old laptop to running this full time and if it is reliable I will be ditching my landline forever. Pros: Has worked flawlessly from my system on the 1st floor that is using a Rosewill wireless antenna to the 3rd floor router. Pros: 1 Worked out of the box with Windows 7, 64 bit. Cons: 1 Computer must remain on at all times to make and receive Skype calls.
It only takes a few extra seconds and it is worth the hassle for the phone bill savings. Overall Review: Overall I think this is a great product that is a great alternative to vonage or magick jack I've had both and they both where terrible, in my case at least. The price for Skype with an outgoing number costs more than magic jack and is considerably less than vonage.
There is a couple of pros and cons to Skype Con 1 No service Pro 1 Can block unwanted callers, which you are unable to do on Vonage without an expensive upgrade. Pros: Works as advertised. This is my second Skype adapter, the first being a D-Link which had horrible driver issues and eventually stopped working with Skype. Seems like its a little faster at connection that the D-Link as well. The adapter, phones, and 1 year paid up number cost about 2 months of the old telco business bill.
You have to enter a few extra numbers to make a call, this becomes routine in a few days so no big deal. I like this. Cons: Not the same as a wired phone. Needs the occasional re-boot that is a matter of unplugging and plugging the USB cord. Keep your cell phone around for service. Overall Review: My business is web based so an internet number makes perfect sense, the computer is always working. This adapter lets me use quality cordless phones in the office and at home for the same number.
Cons: Driver problems - Included drivers didn't work and their Windows 7 drivers didn't either. Had to use Vista drivers on Win7. On and off voice distortion. Tested with other headsets and it did not continue. It has to be the adapter or the combination of it and my Vtech handset.
Overall Review: Go to Zoom's website and download the latest drivers! I'm running Win7 X64 with a relatively new Vtech handset. Pros: Works for me. Unlimited long distance and incoming calls. Caller Id even works, and the answering machene or you can use skypes free voice mail. Pros: Bought elsewhere. Just happened on Newegg after i bought elsewhere thats all.
